Welcome to Play With Me 💚

Play With Me is a small living room made for families — and something a homeschooling mother and her two children built out of what they believe in.

With a homelike atmosphere, we've made a relaxed, easy place to spend time: a freshly made tea of the day (included with entry), open-ended toys that feed the imagination and senses of children aged 0 to 6, and a wide range of picture books in both Chinese and English.

Alongside European wooden toys and natural-material toys that support the five senses, the space also holds natural lifestyle goods chosen with care — and small-batch handmade treats and special drinks, made from what's fresh in season.

We'd like to invite parents and children to simply stay in the moment,
to feel the rhythm of life through natural, unhurried interaction,

and to slowly gather the good of time spent together 💚

About Vira

Hi, I'm Vira 🙋‍♀️
your host at Play With Me.

I'm a homeschooling mother, with 17 years of full-time parenting and 7 years of homeschooling behind me.

I love wooden toys, reading, nature, photography, and learning of all kinds.

Over more than a decade of raising my children — from pregnancy and birth through the early years — we've walked through Waldorf education, an experimental elementary school, group homeschooling, and on toward learning on our own.

We learn through living: travelling north and south, getting to know the island we live on and the world we're part of, observing and experiencing first-hand — reaching for the knowledge and wisdom of real life that books can't quite hold.

Along the way we've gathered a great deal of experience and understanding, and grown in our own different ways.

Having done all of it hands-on, I've come to feel deeply that
"it really does take a whole village to raise a child."

Play With Me | A Living Room for Families

is what I wanted to create after this parenting journey: a supportive space that can gently keep company with caregivers and children alike 😊.

If, in the middle of caring for a child, the emotional labour can be set down for a while, and time together can simply be savoured,

then life's quiet, moving moments have the chance to be gently held.
It's with that hope that Play With Me came to be —
two years of it, every detail worked out hands-on alongside my children,
created little by little :)

Here,

we offer a calm, unhurried atmosphere where children can settle into themselves, and an environment where caregivers can feel at ease.

With nothing over-stimulating,
children are free to explore the books and toys,
and to lose themselves in open-ended play that lets creativity and imagination out.

We keep you company as you read or play with your child in a naturally relaxed frame of mind — feeling the good in these parenting hours 💕

We furnish the space with natural or non-toxic materials,
and welcome guests with goods chosen for both meaning and everyday quality.

We share the space, the books, the toys and the discoveries,
and also fresh refreshments, along with what we've experienced and come to understand on our own parenting journey.

When we happen to meet parenting companions who share the same spirit, we offer each other a little support and company — letting these occasional encounters bring a natural, warm current 💛
