Welcome to Play With Me

Play With Me is a small living room for families, built around open-ended play — and something a homeschooling mother and her two children created out of what they believe in.

With a homelike atmosphere, we've made a relaxed, easy place to spend time: a freshly made tea of the day (included with entry), open-ended toys that feed the imagination and senses of children aged 0 to 6, and a wide range of picture books in both Chinese and English.

🏡 In Our Space

Alongside European wooden toys and natural-material toys that gently stir all five senses, the space also holds natural lifestyle goods chosen with care — and small-batch handmade treats and special drinks, made from what's fresh in season.

📚 Sixteen Years of Collecting

The toys, board games and picture books here were collected one by one over the years, as we accompanied our children in learning and growing:

・17 European wooden toy brands — natural, non-toxic, chosen for open-ended play
・Nearly 100 board games
・1,300+ themed picture books (about 1 Chinese to 8 English)

🌿 Learning Through Free Play

Most toys come with a fixed way to play, and a child's creativity can only look for gaps within the rules.

With open-ended toys, the child is free to decide how to play — no right answers, no fixed rules, no finish line. What matters is the process.

Without limits on how to play, a child's instinct to learn has room to unfold in their own way — exploring possibilities, coming up with their own ideas, and naturally building skills, knowledge and confidence

Keeping families company in open-ended play, and seeing each child's development and needs — this is what parenting has taught us, and what we'd like to share :)

We'd like to invite parents and children to simply stay in the moment,
to feel the rhythm of life through natural, unhurried interaction,

and to slowly gather the good of time spent together

Hi, I'm Vira 🙋‍♀️
your host at Play With Me.

I'm a homeschooling mother, with 17 years of full-time parenting and 7 years of homeschooling behind me.

I love wooden toys, reading, nature, photography, and learning of all kinds.

Over more than a decade of raising my children — from pregnancy and birth through the early years — we've walked through Waldorf education, an experimental elementary school, group homeschooling, and on toward learning on our own.

We learn through living: travelling north and south, getting to know the island we live on and the world we're part of, observing and experiencing first-hand — reaching for the knowledge and wisdom of real life that books can't quite hold.

Along the way we've gathered a great deal of experience and understanding, and grown in our own different ways.

Having done all of it hands-on, I've come to feel deeply that
"it really does take a whole village to raise a child."

Play With Me | A Living Room for Families

is what I wanted to create after this parenting journey: an open-ended play space that supports the needs of both caregivers and children 😊.

When children are free to settle into their own play and exploration, the grown-ups beside them also have room to be with themselves.

It's with that hope that Play With Me came to be —
two years of it, every detail worked out hands-on alongside my children,
created little by little :)

Here,

we offer a calm, unhurried atmosphere where children can settle into themselves, and an environment where caregivers can feel at ease.

With nothing over-stimulating,
children are free to explore the books and toys,
and to lose themselves in open-ended play that lets creativity and imagination out.

Whether it's play, reading, or afternoon tea,
we're here to keep you company as you relax
and enjoy beautiful time together as a family 💕

The lounge is furnished with natural or non-toxic materials,
and we welcome visiting families with goods chosen for both meaning and everyday quality

When we happen to meet parenting companions in this space who share the same spirit, we offer each other a little support and company — letting these chance encounters bring a natural, warm current into our lives 💛
